About us

History

Doubtless Bay Promotion Inc. (DBPI) was originally formed by a group of local businessmen and women as the Doubtless Bay Business Association, with the aim to promote and represent Doubtless Bay as a tourist destination, to encourage tourists to stay longer and to support and encourage business and living in the area. The name was changed in May 2005 to DBPI to more accurately reflect the aims of the group.

Doubtless Bay Information Centre

DBPI staffs and maintains the Doubtless Bay Information Centre which is located on the waterfront at 118 Waterfront Drive in the heart of the Mangonui township, adjacent to the historic Courthouse.

In addition to providing information about the area to visitors, the Information Centre offers a full booking service for tours, attractions and accommodation and bus tickets to and from Auckland. It also has a wide range of souvenirs and gifts for sale. All accommodation and tours marked with the Doubtless bay Info Centre symbol, can be booked through the Information Centre using our 'Make a booking' form.

The Information Centre has a 24-hour Automatic Teller Machine (ATM),
serviced by ASB Bank and Hotlink Internet Access terminals, Skype and
wireless connections. You can also burn your digital holiday photos from
camera cards to CD. Internet access via Hotlink terminals is available
during opening hours but the wireless connections are range-dependent
and may be used outside of opening hours. Cost for use of hotlink
terminals - NZ$2.00 for 20 mins. and NZ$5.00 for 50 mins.

We are usually open from 10.00 am to 17.00 pm throughout the summer, with shorter opening hours in the winter.

A Justice of the Peace is available at the Doubtless Bay Information Centre every Friday from 11 am to 1 pm.

Info CentreYou can email the Doubtless Bay Information Centre direct at: infocentre@doubtlessbay.co.nz.

Our other public services

DBPI maintains this community website, the only comprehensive business directory for the area, produces the Doubtless Bay Visitor Guide (which is displayed in tourist offices and other locations throughout New Zealand) and organises the annual Waterfront Festival in Mangonui.

We have a TV monitor in the Information Centre with a continuous display of See & Do NZ videos of the area - Doubtless Bay, The Far North, Mangonui, and the Mangonui Waterfront Festival. Members who have a good professional and high quality video demonstrating their facility or activity, can have it added at a cost which is unlikely to exceed $25.

Please let the website administrator know if you are aware of events, community groups and local businesses that should be added to the listings on this website.
